Mrs. Barker, Special Education Director and Mrs. Altermatt and Mrs. Pollard, Process Coordinators, have been advocating with the Missouri Council of Special Education Admininstrators and Council of Exceptional Children at the Special Education Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., speaking to U. S. Senators and Representatives for much needed mental health services in schools, appropriations for IDEA and addressing staff shortages.

Our annual FREE Athletic Physical Clinic will be held tomorrow at 8:00 am in Munford Gymnasium. Anyone participating in athletics or marching band grades 7-12 that doesn't still have a valid two year physical on file must have a physical exam prior to the first practice day of their activity.

Summer Food Bags for Kids
Convoy of Hope has partnered with Westside Family Life Center to distribute food bags to kids throughout the summer. Pick up times are 10:00 am- noon. The dates left for pick up are : July 7, July 21, and August 4. Kids must live within the WS school district to qualify. To receive the bags, just pull up to the elementary circle drive.

Bear Tennis star, McKylie Cox named girls tennis player of the year by the Springfield Sports Commission! Bear Nation salutes McKylie and her tremendous tennis career!


The boys and girls basketball teams put in some work for the city today! The boys picked up trash along the side of the road around Loves Truck Stop. The girls worked at the golf course washing carts and cleaning the clubhouse. Awesome Job Bears!

These kids did a great job this week at basketball camp! Our campers were in grades 1-6. Today we finished camp with some competitions, camp t-shirts and popsicles!! The Future is Bright!

The active intruder alert was inadvertently triggered this afternoon on campus. A quick response revealed no threat. We apologize for any stress or panic this situation caused to your family. There was a false panic alarm at the school. Everything is okay.

All medication at the nurse's office must be picked up or checked in for summer school by the end of the school day on Wednesday, May 17. Any medication not picked up by a parent will be destroyed. Thank you!

The Individual Sectional Boys Tennis Tournament will be at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield tomorrow beginning at 10:00 AM.

5th grade in the wild! Our 5th graders took a trip to Mammoth Spring State Park on Wednesday. They explored the fish hatchery, played nature bingo while walking the trail, and toured the historic depot.
